On a recent visit to Las Vegas, we went to the Red Rock Canyon, and Sruti didi decided to pose with some dance poses in front of the beautiful sweeping vista - and the light was almost perfect.

The Wedding Dance

I had the opportunity to shoot the wedding of Mary and Kevin as a second shooter. The primary photographer was my friend, the awesome Casey Broadwater. It was a great experience for me. I have shot a few Indian wedding and receptions, but this was the first western wedding that I covered as a photographer. I loved every moment of it - starting from the getting ready shots at the groom's (Kevin's) house to the reception at Century Ballroom in Capitol Hill. I was totally exhausted at the end of the day - but it was so worth it.

A b/w treatment on one of my favorite shots from the recent Grand Canyon trip. I don't do black/white photos too often - but this one, with the rich texture and moody clouds seemed like a perfect candidate for a detailed black and white conversion.

Arrangetram

About a week ago, I had the opportunity to shoot the Arangetram of a very talented young Bharatanatyam dancer in Puyallup, WA.

Arangetram is the debut on-stage performance of a Bharatanatyam student. She had learnt Bharatanatyam for the last six years, and after all those hard work, she performed brilliantly on the stage.

We arrived a little early – and I managed to get some of her getting ready shots. She was very confident.

The show lasted a little more than two hours. It was absolutely mesmerizing.
